Beats By Girlz: BERLIN

Electronic Music Made By YOURSELF

In this course program the musician, DJ, and sound artist and Ableton Certified Trainer Maya C. Sternel and DJ Ipek show you how to use the music software Ableton Live and Push instrument to make electronic music, play beats and create your own song.

The course program is based on the curriculum that is especially developed for this purpose by Erin Barra (Berklee College of Music, founder of Beats By Girlz).

You need no previous knowledge and no laptop or software to join. 

All equipment will be provided.

Intro to Ableton

Join local producer and acclaimed electronic artist Emma Ashton in a comprehensive sequential class series that will give the student a solid foundation of Ableton Live + Push and electronic music production fundamentals using curriculum developed by Erin Barra (Berklee College of Music, Coursera, Beats by Girlz founder).  No experience necessary and all equipment provided. Classes are held in a stimulating environment with music played over loudspeakers with approximately seven learners and one teacher. A typical class starts with a group lesson and is followed by individual work time.

Youth Ableton Series 1

Join producer, techno DJ, label owner, and engineer Tanya Leigh in a comprehensive sequential class series that will give the student a solid foundation of Ableton Live + Push and electronic music production fundamentals using curriculum developed by Erin Barra (Berklee College of Music, Coursera, Beats by Girlz founder).  No experience necessary and all equipment provided.
Classes are held in a stimulating environment (music amplified over loudspeaker at times) with approximately eight learners and two teachers. A typical class starts with a group lesson and is followed by individual work time.
WHEN: Sundays, 1-4 pm: 6/2, 6/9, 6/16, 6/23, 6/30

Beats By Girlz: Austin Spring 2019

Join teacher Tara Bordeaux for BBG Austin! Beats By Girlz was developed to create a safe and comfortable place for young women to get involved in music technology while having as much fun as possible. The goal is to provide them with the guidance, access, tools and role-support to develop their interests and ability to pursue career opportunities in music production, composition, engineering, etc – fields where a female demographic is all but lacking. Lessons that give them the opportunity to be a songwriter, a rapper, a producer, an engineer and a collaborator – all of which showcase the fact that if they chose, they can play all of these roles simultaneously and independently. Classes will be held at Lanier Early College High School in Austin ISD.
WHEN: Every Thursday at lunch  (Unofficial meeting days: any open lab time you feel like making  music!)

Classes are held in a stimulating environment with music played over loudspeakers with approximately seven learners and one teacher. Beats by Girlz first workshop outside the US – in Copenhagen, Denmark! Do you have music in your head, but no tools to get it out? Do you sing and would like to make your own tracks? Or do you just want to try to play with some musical tools and see what happens? Here’s your chance. Stefani Wisting and Katrine Villadsen will show you how. All you have to do is show up. The introductory workshops are free, with support by Hip Hop Hub, Rumkraft, Støberiet/Blågårds Bibliotek, Ableton and Designmuseet.

Join local underground promoter and witchhouse producer Ardes (https://ardes.bandcamp.com) in a workshop that will give students a solid foundation of making and sequencing beats using software and hardware drum machines and racks.  Great drum programming makes every track sound better! Create fills, learn how to build and layer drum parts, and drop four on the floor to make people dance. No experience necessary and all equipment provided.  Students with previous beatmaking experience are encouraged to attend and take their skills to the next level. Classes are held in a stimulating environment with approximately eight learners and two teachers. Some music in class is amplified over loudspeakers. A typical class starts with a group lesson and is followed by individual and collaborative work time.
